Kochi-Munnar-Thekkady-Alleppey-Kochi7-day-package

The itinerary starts from Kochi, known as the Art Capital of Kerala. Bordered by the Arabian Sea with several inland backwater lagoons, and the majestic Periyar River crisscrossing its suburbs, we take you on a grand tour of colonial heritage, leisurely luxury, unmatched gourmet experiences and idyllic locations that have become a mainstay of Kerala’s film industry.
Roam the streets of Fort Kochi, an erstwhile British, Portuguese and Dutch colony which is sure to charm you with its many delectable cafes, open air restaurants, sea breeze and centuries old Indo-European styled houses. Right from the 500 year old St. Francis Church where navigator Vasco da Gama was first buried, to the Synagogue in Mattancherry and its corresponding Jew Street, Kochi carries the nostalgic remnants of a history of trade, confluence and artistic splendor. Kochi is also host to one of Asia’s biggest art festivals called the Kochi-Muziris Biennale and has several cinematic colonies that add spice to one’s experience of this destination.
From Kochi, the tour winds upwards towards the Central Highlands of Kerala, and halts at one of the two hill destinations- Munnar or Thekkady.
Munnar is home to strawberries, umpteen species of flora and fauna, and has several trekking paths with scenic ponds tucked in between hill tops. Here you can find cottages doubling up as homestays with grand balconies offering a picture perfect view of the surrounding landscape. Munnar is a major camping destination with centuries old caves carved into rocky hills. These caves also known as muniyaras were the abodes of ancient sages who once meditated here. Heritage landmarks such as Kerala’s first Iron Bridge built by the British, and other colonial monuments still exist in perfect condition. Its counterpart, Thekkady, is home to wild elephants and tigers and is an ideal destination for adventure camping, trekking and leisure. Considered a paradise on Earth, Thekkady also has a lot of cardamom plantations, many of which have a farm house converted into a resort. For those looking to get an additional dose of adrenaline, the nearby eco-tourism region called Gavi offers a different wildlife experience. Munnar and Thekkady with their virgin green landscapes and waterfalls are an ideal shooting location for Bollywood, Tollywood and other regional film industries. Not to mention the Malayalam film industry.
From the hills, the itinerary takes you to the low lying paddy fields and backwaters of Alleppey, known as the Venice of the East. Brimming with a backpacker culture alongside an experience of familial leisure, Alleppey has a scientifically built canal system passing through its entirety. The canal opens up into the majestic Vembanad Lake and the Pamba River. The Kuttanad belt where paddy farming is done below sea level is dotted with fairy-tale like villages by the waters. Rent a canoe, experience a houseboat ride, explore the centuries old coir factories and buildings, or walk through the villages to feel the air of Kerala’s most popular destination.
And to know, why filmmakers across the world have been enthralled by its natural splendor.
